Hold your breath, Canadian hockey fans...
UPDATE: Hockey Canada officials have confirmed that both MacKinnon or Bennett took a 'maintenance day' today and are still expected to be in the lineup for Canada's quarter-final game tomorrow.
Read below for our earlier report on this developing story.
This just in, Team Canada hit the ice for practice today in Milano and conspicuously absent from the lineup were veteran forwards Nathan MacKinnon and Sam Bennett.
You may recall that MacKinnon suffered a big hit late in Canada's win over France earlier this week, but said after the game that he was fine. So... stay tuned on that front.
It is encouraging, however, to see defenseman Josh Morrissey back on the ice and hopefully ready to make his way back into the lineup. If he indeed suits up for Canada tomrorow, don't be surprised to see youngster Thomas Harley moved to the press box.
As for the rest of the squad, here's how they lined up:
So Bo Horvat moves up the lineup to take MacKinnon's spot, while Nick Suzuki bumps down to take on center duties on the 4th line. I'd expect Seth Jarvis to be removed from the lineup in favor our MacKinnon for tomorrow's quarterfinal game.
Stay tuned for official updates from Hockey Canada.
