The Edmonton Oilers are feeling the heat.
The team has less than two months to get their new general manager ready for the very important draft and the free-agent season, however, they have yet to name a man to take over the position.
It is believed that they are holding interviews, but team insider Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal is shocked that the team is keeping interim GM Keith Gretzky waiting around, unaware of his future with the club. Matheson believes the Oilers have handled the situation poorly and should let him know right away if he remains in or out.
The Oilers are looking to speak with Vegas Golden Knights assistant GM Kelly McCrimmon, but his team not yet granted official permission for Edmonton to meet with McCrimmon.
Though an answer could come this week according to Elliotte Friedman, the Oilers might want to see if their top candidate is interested before parting ways with Gretzky…
But many something should be said now, it’s been long enough!
