A National Hockey League team has just freaked out their fan base by making an emergency call up.

On Monday San Jose Sharks goaltender Martin Jones was absent from team practice after suffering what was initially believed to be a relatively minor injury against the Winnipeg Jets over the week-end, but now it sounds like it may be more serious.

Not only have the Sharks now listed Jones as day to day in his recovery, but the team has announced the emergency call up of former Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Antoine Bibeau to the roster.

If there is a silver lining to this story for fans of the Sharks, it's the fact that Bibeau has played exceptionally well this season with the San Jose Barracuda, recording a save percentage of .925 and a 2.04 goals against average.

Despite having just two games of NHL experience Bibeau has also performed well when called upon, positing a save percentage of 0.927 and a 1.99 goals against average in two games with the Maple Leafs.
