One team has revealed their goaltender was dealing with a major injury and it could explain his seemingly inconsistent play during the first round of the playoffs.

Minnesota Wild goaltender Devan Dubynk gave up a lot of goals in the first round, more than any other goaltender who participated in the first round of the playoffs in fact, but there may have been a very good reason.

On Wednesday morning rumors began to surface that Dubnyk had been playing through a very serious injury, and those rumors were later confirmed by Wild insider Mike Russo of the Star Tribune. Russo revealed the injury was a broken index finger on his right hand, although it's still unclear how much of an impact it had on his performance.

Even with Dubnyk's injury the Wild came about as close as you can to forcing a Game 7, and Dubnyk should not be too heavily criticized for playing through a major injury if the Wild felt they did not have a capable back up.
