The star forward’s status revealed just before Olympic opener vs. Italy
With puck drop minutes away, Team Sweden has officially made its decision on William Nylander.
After missing practice Tuesday and leaving head coach Sam Hallam noncommittal about his availability, Nylander will suit up for Sweden’s Olympic opener against Italy today.
The Toronto Maple Leafs star had been listed as questionable after sitting out practice, raising concerns about whether he’d be ready in time for the start of the tournament. Nylander has dealt with injuries throughout the NHL season, missing 17 games, largely due to a lingering groin issue.
Despite the uncertainty earlier in the week, Sweden will have one of its most dangerous offensive weapons in the lineup when it hits the ice. Nylander’s presence immediately boosts Sweden’s firepower and adds another layer of intrigue to their opening matchup.
Unless he is not full healthy...
All eyes will now be on how the star winger looks in live action, and whether he can make an immediate impact as Sweden begins its quest for Olympic gold.
