How do you go from the Olympic powerhouse roster to this?
Team USA have announced their preliminary roster for the upcoming IIHF World Championships in Switzerland.
Check it out:
Now, if you're scanning that roster for star power you'll probably only find one name: Matthew Tkachuk.
In fact, Tkachuk is the ONLY member of USA's gold medal winning Olympic team who will represent the country in Switzerland. This despite the fact that stars like Auston Matthews, Jack Hughes, Connor Hellebuyck and Charlie McAvoy are all available. Toss in the likes of Kyle Connor, Dylan Larkin, JT Miller, Brock Nelson, Jake Oettinger, Jake Sanderson, Jeremy Swayman, Brady Tkachuk, Vincent Trocheck and Zach Werenski, all available also, and you've got to be disappointed in this roster.
So... what gives USA?
