Teams trying to trade for Marner instead of making him an offer sheet!

When a player like Mitch Marner becomes remotely available, teams across the NHL have a duty to call in and see what it would take to pry him away from the Toronto Maple Leafs. 

While the world has been waiting to see if it will be an offer sheet that comes in as a threat, NHL insider Pierre LeBrun just revealed that it might be a trade that comes in instead… 

"The Mitch Marner camp, as Dreger first reported today, got calls today from other teams...Certainly I think there's some teams that wanted to investigate to find out whether they should try and trade for Marner as opposed to make him an offer sheet."

Earlier today, TSN’s Darren Dreger reported that the Marner camp has heard from “multiple teams” already, just hours into the opening of the interview window. However, some might be called to see if a trade is possible instead of coming in with an offer sheet. 

It remains to seen if Marner will sign with the Leafs as it has been noted that both camps remain in contact despite the interview period with other teams now opened. 

However, will the Leafs stun the hockey world and make a last minute trade with Marner?!
