The New Maple Leaf got a tough reality check last week... one we can all relate to.
The realities of being a Toronto Maple can be difficult at times, and no I am not talking about the media pressures that players in the market can face.
Last week, new Toronto Maple Leafs forward Teddy Blueger shared a hilarious story about his introduction to some of the challenges the city has to offer when he admitted he was significantly delayed getting to the rink.
When speaking to reporters in Toronto, Blueger revealed that he had expected a quick trip to the rink when suddenly he was delayed nearly an hour by the often times awful traffic in the city. To make matters worse it sounds like this was just before a game, although Blueger didn't really go into specifics about what game that may have been.
"Welcome to Toronto? Probably taking almost an hour to get the game rink" said Blueger with a laugh. "Sometimes I can get down there 20-25 minutes so I'd say it caught me off guard quite a bit."
When asked if he's consulted with some teammates on how to beat the traffic, it sounds like Blueger may already have some ideas up his sleeve.
"I mean taking the subway seems to be a little more consistent but other than that it seems to be a little more unpredictable," admitted Blueger.
If a little traffic is the worst that it gets, maybe playing in Toronto isn't nearly as bad as some try to make it out to be.
