A dumb decision that could have serious consequences.
San Jose Sharks superstar Macklin Celebrini is turning into such a big deal that young kids are getting themselves arrested over their desire to get their hands on a piece of the National Hockey League's latest phenom.
A recent report out of Ontario has revealed that a teenager has been arrested after a very poorly executed attempt at stealing a high value hockey card featuring Celebrini. According to the report, the teen responded to a Facebook Marketplace ad earlier this week related to the card but never had any intention of buying the card, instead waiting for the seller to become distracted before snatching the card and attempting to flee on foot.
Unsurprisingly the police were easily able to track down the teen thanks to surveillance footage and a subsequent investigation, eventually knocking on the door of his residence only for the teen to answer the door in the same clothing he is alleged to have committed the theft in.
While the stealing of a hockey card may not seem like a big deal on the surface, the teen may find himself in serious trouble given the value some of these cards have in collector circles. The teen has been charged with theft over $5,000, although no further details were released due to the alleged perpetrator's age.
There is a happy ending here, law enforcement was able to recover the stolen card, which means that Macklin Celebrini is once again back in good hands.
