There is no doubt that Jeff Skinner has been one of the Buffalo Sabres’ best forwards this past season since Don Granato has taken over the bench. He put up some career numbers and could be picking up right where he left off in 2023-24.
I however believe Skinner couldn’t care less about individual records and accolades. Especially when you realize that the poor guy is within striking distance of 1,000 games next season at 932 games played, but on the list of players closing in on the big number, he is the only one that could do so before playing a game in the playoffs.
That’s just brutal…
There are still four more years remaining on Skinner’s contract in Buffalo, and the Sabres will want the best out of him. And so, unless he gets injured before reaching the 1000-game milestone, Skinner will get to it before he has the chance to play one, just one in the postseason.
Skinner will continue to play a key role in his team’s victories towards a Stanley Cup and will have to focus on the ultimate goal and not the pretty milestones along the way.
