The official update from the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday did not contain good news.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have just shared an update on injured goaltender Joseph Woll and unfortunately the news is not good.

On Saturday morning, the Maple Leafs department of public relations officially announced that Woll is now being considered "week to week" as a result of his injury, something that suggests he is going to be out for a while at least. The Maple Leafs have also revealed that Woll has officially been diagnosed with a high ankle sprain.

Woll, who truly only broke into the National Hockey League last season, was establishing himself as a legitimate starting netminder in the league and had taken the job of number one goaltender from Maple Leafs netminder Ilya Samsonov. Over 15 games with the Leafs this season, Woll recorded a goals against average of 2.80 and a save percentage of .916 and had unquestionably asserted himself as the Maple Leafs starting netminder.

The Maple Leafs will now likely have to turn back to Samsonov who not been nearly as solid this season with a goals against average of 3.58 and a save percentage of .878 through 10 games thus far this season.
