Terrible update for Thatcher Demko.

Another tough blow for the Vancouver Canucks.

The Vancouver Canucks have once again lost their number one goaltender.

On Saturday night, the Canucks traveled to Toronto to take on the Toronto Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Arena in what turned out to be a nightmare game for the Canucks. The Canucks were thoroughly dominated by the Leafs and it seemed as though Demko had been pulled after giving up 3 goals on just 6 shots against for an abysmal .500 save percentage.

While it had looked like your typical pull, Canucks head coach Adam Foote revealed during his post game comments that Demko had not been pulled from the net but had in fact been injured. Furthermore, Foote revealed that Demko would need to be evaluated before he could provide further update.

On Sunday we got that update and unfortunately the news is not good for Demko or the Canucks. Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin announced that Demko would be going back on injured reserve, knocking him out of the lineup for at least a week.

The biggest knock against Demko in recent years has been his inability to remain healthy and unfortunately this season has been no exception. In spite of the fact that the Canucks have now played 44 games this season, Demko has appeared in just 20 of those games due in large part to injury.

Demko has already missed 12 games due to an injury, with that injury taking him out of action for an entire month, and there's no telling how long he may be out this time.

Stay tuned for more on this developing story.
