Terrible update on injured Ranger Jimmy Vesey.
New York Rangers forward Jimmy Vesey was injured in Game 2 and unfortunately the update is not good.
The New York Rangers have taken a significant hit.
During the course of Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Final this week, Rangers forward Jimmy Vesey would leave the game after being shaken up courtesy of a big hit from Florida Panthers forward Ryan Lomberg. Vesey was on the receiving end of a big shoulder to shoulder hit from Lomberg and, although he valiantly tried to remain on the ice, it was clear immediately that the hit had injured him.
Vesey would leave Game 2 and not return and the question became how much time would he miss, a question that has now been answered.
According to Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette it doesn't sound like Vesey is very likely to return to this series, with Laviolette listing Vesey as "week to week" during a media availability on Saturday. Not only does that sound like it could knock Vesey out of the Eastern Conference Final entirely, but it sounds like it could potentially impact the Stanley Cup Final should the Rangers advance past the Panthers.
Vesey had previously appeared in 12 playoff games for the Rangers, currently boasting a plus minus rating of +1, and recorded 1 goal and 2 assists for a total of 3 points over that stretch.
