An unfortunate blow has been dealt to veteran NHL referee Kevin Pollack, who had been set to retire at the end of this current season.

He'll be forced to hang up the skates earlier than he anticipated, as he suffered a career-ending injury. TSN commentator Gord Miller reported the unfortunate news on his X (formerly known as Twitter) account, writing the following:

"Sad news that veteran NHL referee Kevin Pollock has suffered a serious knee injury that will end his season and his career. Kevin was retiring this year but the injury will prevent him from working a “retirement game” where he would have picked the officiating crew and location."

For those who missed it, Pollack was hurt last month while officiating a game at KeyBank Center in Buffalo, as Jordan Greenway collided with him while sliding on the ice.
