The New York Rangers lost veteran forward Blake Wheeler during last night's game after he suffered a right leg injury, and had to be helped off the ice by his teammates.
And the latest update on his condition is not good. According to multiple reports, he'll be placed on Long Term Injured Reserve and that he'll be unable to play for the rest of the regular season. However, it appears as though there is a bit of optimism that he could potentially return at some point during the Stanley Cup Playoffs, depending on how far the Rangers are able to advance.
For those of you who missed it, here is the play in question from last night's game:
Wheeler, who was playing in his first season with the Rangers after being bought out by the Winnipeg Jets, had scored nine goals with 12 assists in 54 games played.
