One of the most intriguing topics during the offseason has been the decision of Hobey Baker award winner Will Butcher, and now it sounds like that decision is quickly coming to a close.

A recent report from the Las Vegas Review-Journal has revealed that Butcher has now narrowed his search down to just three National Hockey League franchises, and the three teams may come as a major surprise.

According to the report the three finalists are the Buffalo Sabres, the New Jersey Devils, and the Las Vegas Golden Knights, not exactly teams expected to set the world on fire next season.

This would likely indicate that Butcher is far more interested in having a guaranteed role on an NHL roster than playing for a team vying for a Stanley Cup Championship.
