Pending player's approval and we know how that can be in St. Louis
It's been reported that the St. Louis Blues are closing in on a trade that would sent veteran forward and captain Brayden Schenn to the New York Islanders.
The move was pending player's approval, and according to Frank Seravalli, Schenn has agreed to waive his clause to join the Isles.
The complete trade sees Jonathan Drouin, 2026 1st (Colorado), a 3rd and Marcus Gidlof sent from the Islanders to St. Louis in this massive move.
Earlier this week, the Blues attempted to trade defenseman Colton Parayko to the Buffalo Sabres and the move was announced prior to the defender's approval. On Thursday, Parayko nixed a trade that would have sent him for at least two strong assets to Buffalo.
Schenn has 12 goals and 28 points in 61 games. He has two more years remaining on his deal after this season, with a $6.5 million cap hit. Last season, Schenn had 50 points in 82 games. Schenn was in the midst of his ninth season in St. Louis.
As for Drouin, who is headed to St. Louis, he has 21 points in 55 games played with the Islanders this season, and one year left on his contract with a salary cap hit of $4 million.
