The Calgary Flames have announced their 2017 first round pick!

The Calgary Flames have announced their pick.

This one was not much of a surprise as most mock drafts had Juuso Valimaki going round around this part of the draft and that is indeed the pick they made with the #16 selection in the 20-17 National Hockey League Entry Draft.

Valimaki is a puck-moving defenseman, and there's no doubt that the Flames were looking for some help on the defensive side of the ice to bolster their group of young and talented forwards.

Valimaki has been noted as possibly the most positive player in this draft, with his great attitude receiving almost as much praise as his offensive upside as a defense-first defenseman.
