Some of the most iconic calls of the 1990's.
Legendary Vancouver Canucks broadcaster Jim Robson has passed away at 91 years old.
Robson called some of the biggest moments in Canucks history and was a part of the team's culture from the very start. Robson was known as "The Voice of the Canucks" from 1970 until his retirement in 1999 and inspired a number of intrepid Vancouver-based broadcasters like Jim Hughson and current-Canucks play by play man John Shorthouse.
Of course, some of Robson's most memorable calls came in the spring of 1994 when the Canucks went on an improbable run to the Stanley Cup Final.
Canucks fans of a certain vintage will certainly never forget Robson's call of the Greg Adams goal that sent Vancouver to the SCF:
Perhaps Robson's best and most famous call though comes from Game 6 of the SCF against the Rangers.
With their backs against the wall and with the Rangers trying to win it all in Game 6, the Canucks rallied at home for a heroic 4-1 win that would force a decisive Game 7 in New York. In the final moments of that game Canucks captain Trevor Linden was chopped down by Rangers captain Mark Messier... and that's when Robson delivered his most enduring call:
"There is going to be that 7th game... and you know he'll (Linden) play. You KNOW he'll play. He'll play on crutches if he has to! He'll play and he'll play at Madison Square Garden!"

Just an iconic call from an iconic broadcaster.
It's truly a shame that Robson never got to see his beloved Canucks hoist the Stanley Cup.
Rest easy, Jim.
