The hockey world reacts to the death of former NHL coach and GM Bryan Murray

With news breaking yesterday about the passing of former Ottawa Senators general manager Bryan Murray, many of his former players and colleagues has reached out to express their condolences on social media, creating a beautiful online tribute for the beloved hockey executive.

For those who don’t know, Murray was a long-time NHL coachhaving coached the Washington Capitals, Detroit Red Wings, Florida Panthers, Anaheim Ducks and Ottawa Senators over 17 seasons from 1981 - 2008. As a general manager, Murray had a brief stint in Anaheim, where he led the team to the Stanley Cup Final in 2003, before he returned to his hometown of Ottawa where he acted as head coach and general manager before finally settling into the GM role permanent in 2007. He remained there until 2014 when he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and was forced to resign form his position in order to concentrate on his health.
