It sounds like fans of the Detroit Red Wings will need to wait several more weeks before an official announcement is made on the future of veteran forward Pavel Datsyuk.

Despite major reports last week out of Russia that suggested a deal had been worked out with a KHL team, Datsyul's agent continues to insist that Datsyuk has not made his final decision just yet, and it appears that a future meeting with the Red Wings in mid June may be the motivating factor behind the delay.

"He would like to leave, but at the same time, he wants to make sure the Wings have options," said Datsyuk's agent Dan Milstein as per the Detroit Free Press. "He wants to help the team any way he can with the salary cap issue."

It certainly sounds like a big factor in Datsyuk's decision is in what kind of shape he will leave his team if he does indeed retire from National Hockey League, something that is at the very least admirable, and should earn him even more respect in Hockey Town on his way out.

It sounds like mid-June is when we will have an official announcement from the Russian forward.
