Buffalo Sabres star forward Tage Thompson was pulled from the lineup just minutes before his team's game against the Boston Bruins last night at KeyBank Centre, and now the latest update concerning his status isn't exactly music to Sabres fans ears.
He's been placed on non-roster reserve, meaning that he's officially unavailable to the team for reasons other than injury or illness.
For those wondering what this means, take a look:
"Under Section 16.12, if a player is unavailable for reasons other than injury or illness, they can be declared a Non-Roster player. There's no time limit and it's up to the Central Registry and/or Commissioner to okay it or nix it. As with the Injured Reserve, these players can be replaced."
With only nine goals and 10 assists so far on the season, Thompson is well off his spectacular output last season of 47 goals and 47 assists.
