Bryan Bickell was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, a condition he had been battling since at least 2015. He played his last NHL game with the Carolina Hurricanes, and it ended like something out of a Disney movie.

Bickell tells his harrowing story for The Players Tribune, and it’s absolutely worth a read. 

But the short version is that he decided that he wouldn’t be able to compete any longer, and he played his last NHL game for Carolina against the Philadelphia Flyers.
