The Edmonton Oilers made it all the way to the second round of the playoffs, just one game shy of the Western Conference finals, last season.
Fans should expecting a lot more this year. Captain Connor McDavid, who signed an eight-year, $100 million contract extension, is looking to lead his team and take another step after the Oilers ended a 10-year playoff drought.
The Oilers management secured their future as Cup contenders by signing McDavid and forward Leon Draisaitl to a long-term extension in the summer. The future looks bright.
McDavid, who won the Hart Trophy as NHL MVP after leading the League in scoring (100 points), will play an even better leadership role, and the veterans jumping on board, such as defenseman Kris Russell, will only add to the dynamism in the locker room.
The question no longer is if the Oilers will be good. It’s now a question of how good they can be!
