The Penguins held an outdoor practice in Calgary and the drone shots are absolutely incredible

The Pittsburgh Penguins were scheduled to hold a practice today at Calgary’s famed Scotiabank Saddledome earlier today, but head coach Mike Sullivan had a surprise for his team....

Instead of driving to the Saddledome, Sullivan instructed his team’s bus driver to the Valley Ridge Community Association outdoor rink for some good, old fashioned pond hockey.

The players were divided into two teams (black vs gold) and played a series of 4 on 4 games to determine the winner. When time starting running out though, coach Sullivan went with the age old, “next goal wins” rule.

“It was like your dad saying five minutes and you’re done,” forward Zach Aston-Reese joked.

“It was fun. Just being in the outdoors lightens the mood a little bit,” forward Jake Guentzel said. “You don’t get to skate outdoors much anymore. A lot of people grew up doing that. For all of us it brings back a lot of memories.”
