Truman noted that the shoot was also the reason Logan Cooley was spotted at the Canadiens' Brossard practice facility alongside Ivan Demidov. Truman suggested fans near the 4 Glaces complex in Pierrefonds or Concordia University's arena might catch a glimpse of the players on set.

It is, by all accounts, a routine sponsorship obligation. Nothing more.

But context matters. Just weeks earlier, a separate wave of McDavid-to-Montreal speculation had swept through social media during Formula 1 weekend. Reports claimed the Oilers star had been seen in the city and was allegedly house hunting. Fans treated the rumour as near-confirmed, imagining No. 97 pulling on the bleu, blanc et rouge.

That story quickly fell apart. According to TVA Sports insider Renaud Lavoie, McDavid was not even in Montreal at the time. It was his wife, Lauren Kyle McDavid, who had traveled to the city to attend an event after receiving an invitation. A routine personal visit by a player's spouse somehow morphed into one of the summer's biggest trade rumours.

The pattern is familiar. Montreal's passionate fanbase and media ecosystem have a way of turning the smallest crumb into a five-course meal. Last summer, similar speculation linked Sidney Crosby to the Canadiens. Before that, other marquee names were dragged into the same vortex.
