Coach Lindy Ruff puts his neck on the line.
This just in, the Buffalo Sabres are turning to goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen for Game 4 against the Montreal Canadiens this evening.
Luukkonen comes in for Alex Lyon, who got lit up for nine goals in the past two games.
Interestingly enough, it was Lyon who stepped into the crease for Luukkonen in the Sabres' first round matchup against the Boston Bruins. When Lyon managed to stabilize things in that series, it appeared that the Sabres had found their rock. Now, just five games later they turn back to Luukkonen.
An optimist would say that this is the benefit of having good goaltender depth, while a pessimist would say that the Sabres can't figure out who their starter is.
