On Tuesday night, the Florida Panthers repeated as Stanley Cup champions by beating the Edmonton Oilers 5-1 in Game 6 of the final. For a second consecutive season, the Cats got to party with the Stanley Cup.

And unfortunately for the prestigious trophy, it did not take long for it to get damaged during the celebrations on the ice. RDS caught a picture and posted it on their Facebook page, in which we can see the Cup with a dent it as the players are still having fun on the ice.

RDS

The Stanley Cup has a history of being damaged during celebrations, with notable incidents including dents from on-ice celebrations and mishaps in bars or during boat parades. The Panthers wanted to be part of that history after the Colorado Avalanche notably dented the Cup in 2022, within minutes of winning it.

It is possible that, similar to 2022 when Nicolas Aubé-Kubel of the Avs tripped on the ice, causing a dent shortly after the team won, a Panthers’ player or executive mishandled the trophy and dented it.

Earlier this morning, at the Elbo Room, images showed that the Cup got even more damaged as the party went on.

We may never know who is to blame for the damage on the Stanley Cup, but I’m pretty sure it does not dampen the celebrations in Florida.
