The 2022-23 season might be over for Columbus Bue Jackets star forward Patrik Laine. On Friday morning, the team announced that Laine was expected to miss two-to-four weeks due to a triceps strain suffered in practice on Thursday.

The young Finn has been one of the Jackets’ best players this season when healthy, putting up a total of 52 points in 55 games.

It’s an unfortunate turn of events for Laine, who recently made the move to center, collecting four assists in his last two outings. While he did struggle in the face-off circle, Laine looked good in the middle of the ice, recording a +3 rating in the process.

This could be an abrupt end to an already injury-littered campaign for Laine. The star forward missed a combined 12 games due to a sprained elbow and sprained ankle sustained earlier in the season.

Laine is part of the long-term plans in Columbus and needs to fully recover from this injury.

Over the past two seasons as a Blue Jacket, Laine has tallied 48 goals and 108 points in 111 games since 2021 despite Columbus failing to reach the postseason.
