The worst is confirmed for Wild captain Jared Spurgeon
A brutal update for the Minnesota captain.
HockeyFeed
If the Minnesota Wild are going to fight their way back into a postseason spot, they'll have to do so without their captain Jared Spurgeon.
Minutes ago, it was announced by the Wild that Spurgeon will be unable to suit up for the remainder of the season.
He'll be undergoing hip surgery, followed by back surgery. He'll also be placed on LTIR by the Wild, creating approximately $7.5 million in salary cap flexibility.
Last season in 79 games played, Spurgeon scored 11 goals and 23 assists and also boasted an impressive +32 plus/minus rating. He's been limited to only 16 games this season, registering five assists.
