There is definitely something going on between the Bruins and Oilers!

It would be an understatement to say that the Boston Bruins have been unlucky this season. So many forwards have been sidelined with injuries already within the first few weeks of the season, and the lack of offense has been noticed on the ice and in the standings at well. 

The Bruins are currently out of a playoff spot, sitting 22nd in the League with 11-8-4 record through 23 games. Brad Marchand, David Backes and Ryan Spooner may have recently returned from injuries, but there is still an important void to fill at centre. 

According to Jimmy Murphy, who was a guest on NHL Network, "there is definitely something going on" between the Bruins and the Edmonton Oilers. 

"I have heard talks from multiple sources just over the last week, that the Bruins have discussed some things with Edmonton. I know that Ryan Nugget-Hopkins' name came up. I don't think that's anything that's going to happen right now, I think it's very exploratory, but I know that his name came up. I know that there is a lot of prospects that Peter Chiarelli likes on the Bruins; he has been scouting them."

"The Bruins are going to be scouting for sure now for help up the middle."

The Oilers are also desperate for a change, and GM Chiarelli might be willing to pull the plug on the season and try to make a move to build a better future.
