There may finally be proof that Brad Marchand is actually the Anti-Christ.

It's no secret that notorious Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand is arguably the most universally hated man in the entire National Hockey League. Sure there are players that during specific incidents or at certain points in time have provoked more ire from the National Hockey League's global fan base than Marchand has, but consistently and over time I would argue that no one has produced more hateful feelings in the hockey world than Marchand has during his playing career.

Marchand has forged his undesirable reputation over time through his antics on the ice which include taunting opposing players, delivering some harmless but effective cheap shots to get under the skin of opponents, and even at times outright crossing the line and taking liberties with the health and safety of his fellow players out on the ice. Those characteristics however could be attributed to any number of players around the National Hockey League including several who played in the league at the same time as Marchand himself, but Marchand is unique. The combination of his relatively diminutive size and his above average talent when it comes to the game of hockey have provided him with both an image and the longevity required to forge such a durable reputation of hatred, but could there also be something more at play here? Some supernatural? Something sinister?

I for one do not put a whole lot of value into concepts like "fate" or "destiny" but every once in a while you see a rather eyebrow raising coincidence and it can be enough to give you pause and wonder if there's is not some hand guiding events behind the scenes. One such coincidence has appeared this evening, February 2nd, ahead of the Saturday night match up between the Boston Bruins and the New Jersey Devils, and it may finally prove once and for all that Marchand is not merely a frustrating man, but the devil himself in disguise.

You see Brad Marchand and his Boston Bruins will be facing the New Jersey Devils tonight in the 66th game of Marchand's career, and you don't need me to tell you the significance of that number. Now facing the Devils in the 666th game of your career is pretty funny if you're an agitator like Brad Marchand, but this is where things go from funny coincidence to perhaps a little more. In an incredible twist of fate Marchand is also entering tonight's game with a rather hilarious 666 career penalty minutes in the NHL to his name as well.

That's right ladies and gentleman, Brad Marchand is the devil, ok not really but pretty amusing nonetheless.
