The Toronto Maple Leafs and the Ottawa Senators faced one another in a Battle of Ontario preseason game on Friday night and forward Wayne Simmonds stole the show.
That’s because the veteran forward ran over the Senators’ captain during the first period. At that time, the Maple Leafs were already leading 3-0 and Simmonds wanted to hurt the Sens some more.
As he entered the zone, Simmonds did not slow down and ran over Thomas Chabot.
This is what the collision looked like and I feel like you can feel Chabot’s ache from your seat:
Moments later, Senators enforcer Austin Watson wanted to get revenge for his captain and dropped the gloves with Simmonds.
But no one can take the Leafs’ gritty forward down!
Chabot did stay in the game.
