Even though Simon Gagne no longer plays for the Flyers, he is still beloved by many fans after spending 11 seasons with the team. He is now a Boston Bruin and unfortunately he is going through a very difficult time. Amalie Benjamin, beat writer for the Boston Glove reported earlier today that the Bruins will be without the services of Simon Gagne for longer than they had anticipated. Today Gagne missed the second straight practice with the team, and now his absence is being labeled an “indefinite” one. The reason for Gagne’s extended absence was revealed today in a statement delivered by Gagne in Quebec City: “We have received sad news in the last few days, my dad met with a specialist in Boston and he has an incurable cancer. We hope a miracle will happen. Right now there are more important things than hockey and I want to be with my family in Quebec City” Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Gagne family at this difficult time.
