Three players, including first round pick Colin White, land on waivers
Some action on the waiver wire on Friday. Full details below:
On Friday, three teams were busy on waivers with the New Jersey Devils waiving defenseman Santeri Hattaka, the Philadelphia Flyers placing forward Anthony Richard and first round pick Colin White landing on the wire by the San Jose Sharks.
It was just two weeks ago that the Sharks signed White to a one-year, two-way contract. He was officially added to the Sharks roster and his contract carries an $850,000 cap hit in the NHL, with a $500,000 cap hit in the AHL.
He scored five goals and 10 points in 20 games with the AHL-affiliated San Jose Baracuda this season, after spending 2023-24 between the Pittsburgh Penguins, its AHL team the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins as well as the Montreal Canadiens before joining the Sharks organization.
White played the past three games with the Sharks, but failed to record a point. He was drafted 21st by the Ottawa Senators in 2015 and played 224 games across six seasons with the club, recording 36 goals and 98 points in his tenure.
The Sharks are looking, just like the Devils and Flyers with their respective waived players, to send him and loan him down to the AHL.
