For weeks now we have been hearing rumblings about a potential trade involving San Jose Sharks star forward Timo Meier, and it sounds like we may finally be reaching the conclusion of all those rumors.

Multiple reports are now indicating that only two teams remain in the race for Meier's services ahead of the National Hockey League's March 3rd trade deadline, those being the New Jersey Devils and the Las Vegas Golden Knights. SiriusXM's James Nichols was the first to break the news on this front:

That report has since been corroborated by NHL insider Pierre LeBrun on Sunday, with LeBrun having previously indicated that he also believes the Carolina Hurricanes have been knocked out of the running for Meier.

Perhaps most interesting of all though is the fact that this situation appears to be unfolding quite rapidly. TSN NHL insider Darren Dreger is now reporting that he expects this deal will get done imminently, within the next 24 hours to be precise.

We've already seen a number of forwards moved today and it may be that the pressure is mounting to get a deal done.
