The Washington Capitals are acquiring Timothy Liljegren from the San Jose Sharks, according to insider Chris Johnston.
Liljegren reunited with his good friend and former Toronto Maple Leafs teammate Rasmus Sandin in D.C.
Through 43 games this season with San Jose, Liljegren has one goal and 10 assists, along with a plus/minus rating of minus-7, while averaging 20:08 of ice time. He is on the final season of a two-year, $6 million contract that carries a cap hit of $3 million. He is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.
Selected 17th overall by Toronto back in 2017, Liljegren has 21 goals and 93 points in 307 career games split between the Maple Leafs and Sharks.
