The Detroit Red Wings may be on the verge of getting a huge boost to their lineup at a time when they need it most.

On Monday, Red Wings head coach Todd McLellan revealed that captain Dylan Larkin is on the verge of making his return to the team with McLellan declaring that Larkin is being considered a game time decision for tomorrow's game. The Red Wings are set to face off against Atlantic Division rivals the Ottawa Senators, making this a particularly important game for both teams as they both battle for a spot in the 2026 Stanley Cup playoffs.

"I’m confident that he’s improving," said McLellan of his captain. "He’s confident that he’s improving."

Larkin has been out of the lineup for quite some time, last playing on March 6th during a game against the Florida Panthers. Larkin was injured during that game when he fell awkwardly to the ice, appearing to bend his knee and leg and a bad angle in the process.

Larkin is of course a huge part of what the Red Wings do offensively, eating up an average of over 20 minutes of ice time a night for the third consecutive season, and his return bodes well for a team that has struggled down the final stretch of the regular season.

The Red Wings have posted a record of 4-4-2 over their last 10 games and their struggles have cost them with the team currently sitting outside of a playoff spot.

Larkin returned to the ice last week and looked good during drills, so it certainly seems well within the realm of possibility that he returns to the ice tomorrow night against the Senators.
