This would be crazy!
This just in, the New Jersey Devils have fired general manager Tom Fitzgerald.
This news follows several high profile firings in the NHL over the last week with Fitzgerald joining fired head coaches Bruce Cassidy and Patrick Roy and fired GM Brad Treliving.
Fitzgerald had been the Devils' GM since 2020 and the team will now embark on an offseason without a manager at the helm. It's believed that Fitzgerald's management staff have also been relieved of their duties and that the Devils will conduct a fullscale rebuild of their front office staff.
Online, Devils fans seem to be overjoyed with the news as the team's fanbase have been calling for Fitzgerald's dismissal for months now. The team has made the playoffs just two times under Fitzgerald's reign have fallen well short of expectations this season.
Surprisingly, Fitzgerald's name is already being mentioned as a possible candidate for the vacant GM position with the Nashville Predators.
NHL insiders Frank Seravalli and Emily Kaplan have both reported this evening that Fitzgerald is a candidate in Nashville.
