Let the games begin!

Former San Jose Sharks defenseman Erik Karlsson is now a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins, having been traded in a blockbuster 3-team move to the East Coast.

He now joins Pittsburgh's rivalry with the Washington Capitals, who in addition to the likes of Alex Ovechkin and Evgeny Kuznetsov feature tough customer Tom Wilson. As you may remember, it was Wilson who has re-signed with Washington, essentially keeping him in the capitol city for the rest of his career. And he's always the first member of the team to stick up for his teammates or establish a physical presence.

You can bet that he immediacy noticed the trade of Karlsson to the Penguins, and he had the following to say:

"He's super skilled and does things that are next level. But at the end of the day, he's a rival now and we'll try and make his life difficult back there as a Capital," he said of Karlsson.

Both the Penguins and Capitals are trying to maximize whatever time their aging star players have left, but neither one of them were able to qualify for the postseason last season. Do the Pens or Caps have a better chance of returning to the playoffs this year?

I don’t know about you, but I’m looking forward to seeing these two teams renew their rivalry!
