Tom Wilson making Team Canada regret its decision already?!

Fans are already worried Wilson’s pesty style could backfire with costly penalties.

Moments before puck drop between the New York Rangers and Washington Capitals earlier on Wednesday, Team Canada officially unveiled its men’s ice hockey roster for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina and it was confirmed that pesty forward Tom Wilson made the cut. You can find the full official roster below, but new faces to the team are, at forward: Macklin Celebrini, Nick Suzuki, Bo Horvat and Tom Wilson, replacing 4 Nations forwards Sam Bennett, Travis Konecky and Seth Jarvis (plus extra Olympic roster spot).

Wilson, who shared a video of the phone call he received from Team Canada general manager Doug Armstrong was incredibly happy about cracking the roster and celebrated in Washington during the game against the Rangers.

Wilson was all over the ice and threw a huge hit on Noah Laba before crashing the net to restore the Caps’ lead. It marked Wilson’s 20th goal of the season, giving him his fifth career 20-goal campaign, and he is also one goal shy of 200 now in his career.

For his hit on Laba, Wilson went toe-to-toe with Sam Carrick. He later scored his second tally of the contest and then found Justin Sourdif for an empty-netter to make it a 6-3 final and complete the Gordie Howe hat trick.

But then, in the third period, he went all, well, Tom Wilson on defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov when he got under his skin behind the Blue Shirts’ net.

Wilson look like an idiot when he imitated Gavrikov, who came up behind him when the Caps’ forward got too close to his goalie Jonathan Quick. In the video below, you can see Wilson mocking Gavrikov to his face, laughing hysterically and looking a like a goofball on the replay.

While some fans immediately questioned Team Canada’s decision to bring Wilson on board, pointing to his immaturity and focus on playing mind games on the ice, others are sure this is an asset the Canadian roster needs going into the Olympic competition.

After all, Wilson, who is in his 13th NHL season, has it all. He can score goals, play on the power play AND on the penalty kill and bring physicality, just to mention a few things…

In all, it was a great day for Wilson, and personally, I get that he can be annoying, but I’m certain Team Canada is thrilled to have him on their roster.
