Tony DeAngelo responds to being booed by his former fans at MSG.
DeAngelo responds to the boo birds.
The New York Rangers faced off against the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 3 of their second round series in the 2022 Stanley Cup playoffs, and that meant that former New York Rangers defenseman Tony DeAngelo was coming back home to what would no doubt be a less than welcoming reception.
The fans at Madison Square Garden did not disappoint on Sunday afternoon and every time that DeAngelo touched the puck during the course of the Rangers 3-1 win over the Hurricanes in Game 3, he heard it from the Rangers faithful in attendance.
DeAngelo was asked for his thoughts on the reception he received when he spoke with Emily Kaplan during a break in the action in between periods in Game 3, and he was asked about what he was hearing from the crowd at MSG. When asked if he was bothered by his former fans treating him in such a hostile manner, DeAngelo to his credit merely brushed it off.
"I could care less, they can boo whatever the hell they want it doesn't matter to me," said a seemingly honest DeAngelo.
Instead DeAngelo was entirely focused on picking up the victory, no doubt being far more interested at the prospect of beating the Rangers in front of their own fans.
"We just gotta find a way to come out of here with a win," said DeAngelo.
Unfortunately for DeAngelo and the Hurricanes they were unable to do so in Game 3, but they maintain a 2-1 lead over the Rangers in the series overall.
