Top 5 draft prospect fails combine miserably.

He couldn't do the bare minimum!

The NHL combine is a lot less important in the fans' mind than the NFL, but it's still a very interesting event. The kids that are highly ranked in the prospect lists are known for their performances on the ice, but their pure physical abilities are still important to analyse through standardized tests.

A lot of attention is turned on Nolan Patrick, but Casey Mittelstadt had people talking for the very wrong reasons today.

It's actually surprising Mittelstadt couldn't accomplish these basic tasks. He's a pretty big guy for his age, at 6'1'' and 201lbs but it might have played against him in the end.

However, to be fair the bench press and chin ups are not exactly related to an actual performance on the ice. These exercises are more related to football, where pure physical strength plays a much bigger role than hockey. Mittelstadt is a super fast and skilled centerman and the size of his biceps in not exactly central to his performance.

As a comparison, Flame's Sam Bennett couldn't do a single chin up himself and he turned pretty well by anyone's standard. +
