Every year, NHL teams go on a shopping spree come July 1st. Sometimes, the player they pay for ends up being every thing they wished for. Other times... not so much! Here are five players likely to sign a big contract and then fail to live up to the expectations.
5. Mike Ribeiro

After personal problems almost derailed his career, Mike Ribeiro bounced back in Nashville last season. His 62 points ranked him in second place in Nashville and he will get a raise from his 2015 1,05 M$ paycheck.
4. Antoine Vermette

The career third-liner had a good postseason in Chicago. Vermette is a good two-way center with a good scoring touch, but probably will get paid like a true second line center when he hits the open-market.
3. Cody Franson

A 6'5'', right handed and puck moving defenseman, Franson seems like any GM's dreams come true. But Franson is not first pairing material on a contending team. Still, look for his old team in Toronto or a playoff hopeful team to make a strong push and pay the big price for the 27 years old.
2. Mike Green

At 29, the Capitals defender is nowhere near the player he used to be. His 45 points in 2014-15 are a departure from the numbers he posted from 2008 to 2010 when he was the premiere offensive defenseman in the game. A team looking for a spark on their power play still will open their wallet for his abilities.
1. Devan Dubnyk

Is Dubnyk really part of the goaltending elite or was he the flavor of the month? Although Dubnyk showed some real improvements in his game in 2015, does he really deserve to get Carey Price's or Pekka Rinne's paycheck?
