Oilers tried to add a forward but have been turned down.
The Edmonton Oilers are making an effort to bolster their forward depth by extending an offer to the top free agent still available at the position, but things have not worked out for the Oilers... at least not for now.
National Hockey League insider Pierre LeBrun has now revealed that the Oilers attempted to sign former Carolina Hurricanes forward Jack Roslovic.
From Lebrun:
I do believe there was an offer from the Edmonton Oilers at some point, but Roslovic, 28, turned it down.
It is a curious decision on the part of Roslovic to turn down any offer at this stage of the game, with the 28 year old unrestricted free agent still in search of a new contract this summer. In fact it may very well be that Roslovic isn't happy with the work his representatives were doing for him this summer, considering he has since made a change in that regard.
Again from LeBrun:
He has since switched agents. He’s now with Justin Duberman.
Roslovic is coming fresh off of a 22 goal season with the Hurricanes, one that saw him add an additional 17 assists for 39 points in 81 games last season. One would have thought it would have been easy for Roslovic to earn a new deal after putting up over 20 goals last season, but in spite of that he remains unsigned.
It is unclear if the door to Edmonton has since been shut as far as Roslovic is concerned, or if perhaps his new agent may change things sooner rather than later.
