
Terrible news has struck the hockey world
On Wednesday evening, it was announced that renowned player agent Jay Grossman had passed away after a battle with cancer. His colleague, John Kofi Osei-Tutu, shared the news on X:
“Unfortunately, last night, Jay Grossman passed away from cancer. His contributions to many players’ careers, the player-agent business, and the entire hockey community are immeasurable. He will be deeply missed. Rest in peace, Jay.”
Osei-Tutu also included a link for those wishing to honor Grossman’s legacy by supporting research for leptomeningeal cancer.
Fans, executives, players, and insiders alike shared memories and condolences. Grossman represented a host of NHL stars, including Brian Leetch, Sergei Zubov, Nikolai Khabibulin, Pekka Rinne, and Ilya Kovalchuk.
“Sad news. Always enjoyed my conversations with Jay, an articulate and passionate agent who always represented his clients and their interests first. He will be missed,” wrote insider Frank Seravalli.
“Sad news about the passing of Jay Grossman. Represented many players over his long career as an agent,” posted writer Mark Scheig.
