In case you missed the news yesterday, the NHL officially announced that the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, originally scheduled for June 26th, will be postponed to a later, undecided date.

Check it out:

So, while we don’t know when the 2020 NHL Entry Draft will go down, we do know who’s going to be selected 1st overall. Barring a head scratching move by whomever wins the 2020 Draft Lottery, top prospect Alexis Lafreniere will be the first overall selection.

The 18 year old phenom scored a remarkable 35 goals and 112 points in just 52 games with the Rimouski Oceanic of the QMJHL this past season. He also starred with Team Canada en route to a gold medal showing at the 2020 World Junior Championships. He put up four goals and 10 points in five games to earn tournament MVP honours.

The kid is legit…

Well, Lafreniere held a press conference call with the media yesterday and fans and analysts around the hockey world collectively raised their eyebrows when he singled out one NHL team in particular when discussing his playing future. That team? The Ottawa Senators.

Check it out:

Well how about that!? Finally some good press for the Sens organization! To be honest, a top line consisting of Lafreniere and Brady Tkachuk sounds incredible. Wherever the kid ends up though, he’s likely going to dazzle.
