Tough decisions ahead for Brad Treliving and Maple Leafs.

The Toronto Maple Leafs will have some tough roster decisions to make this week.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are expecting a bunch of good news this week and while that will of course be a positive for the franchise, it also means that general manager Brad Treliving and his team will have some difficult decisions ahead of them.

On Saturday the Maple Leafs got veteran forward Max Pacioretty back from injury and, barring any potential setbacks, there is an expectation that forwards Bobby McMann and Max Domi as well as defenseman Jake McCabe will all return from injury over the course of this week.

The reality for the Maple Leafs however is that they simply can't keep all of those players on their roster with the team currently only having just over $664,000 in available cap space, which means that some players will likely be on the receiving end of some bad news this week.

It remains to be seen how Treliving and the Leafs will choose to manage their roster when those players return but at least one of those difficult decisions may have been made a little easier. Leafs forward Nicholas Robertson appears to have landed himself in head coach Craig Berube's doghouse, with Berube opting to scratch Robertson on Saturday in favor of Alex Nylander and even calling out his poor play after the game, so I suspect that Robertson is likely to be one of the odd men out.

I believe that Domi and Pacioretty are likely safe but that will leave decisions to be made regarding fringe players like Pontus Holmberg and Ryan Reaves as well as other players like the popular Nikita Grebenkin and the returning Bobby McMann.

Only the Maple Leafs truly know how the team intends to navigate this upcoming headache, but it seems likely that they will have to risk placing some players on waivers or potentially even making a trade to make everything fit once everyone is healthy.

Which players do you think should be waived and/or traded? And which players do you feel have earned their spot on the roster? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
