This just in, the Dallas Stars have traded 27 year old forward and pending unrestricted free agent Frederik Olofsson to the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for... nothing.
Technically, the Stars get 'Future Considerations' in exchange for Olofsson, but we all know that that doesn't mean much.
Olofsson recorded four points (1-3--4) in 28 regular-season contests with Dallas during the 2022-23 campaign. He made his NHL debut on Dec. 27, 2022 at Nashville and tallied his first career NHL goal (1-0--1) on Dec. 31, 2022 vs. San Jose, which also marked his first career game-winning goal.
He also made his Stanley Cup Playoffs debut in Game 4 of the Western Conference Final vs. Vegas on May 25 and went scoreless with a +1 rating in two postseason appearances (also Game 5 at VGK).
In his first full AHL season in 2022-23, Olofsson posted 14 points (5-9--14) and a +11 rating in 37 regular-season contests with the Texas Stars, Dallas' development affiliate in the American Hockey League.
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound forward from Helsingborg, Sweden was originally selected by Chicago in the fourth round (98th overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft.
The Avs have reportedly signed Olofsson to a one year contract for the 2023-24 season and are likely hoping that he'll factor into plans for their 3rd and/or 4th line this upcoming campaign.
