We have a trade in the National Hockey League.
According to a report from Sportsnet's Chris Johnston, the Vancouver Canucks and the Florida Panthers have worked out a deal that will see two talented young players on the move. The Canucks will be giving up second and fourth round draft pick this season as well as 19 year old center Jared McCann in order to fill a big need on defense, and will be receiving Erik Gudbranson and a fifth round pick this year in exchange from the Panthers.
The Canucks fan base may not be pleased to learn that general manager Jim Benning is looking to deal what is a promising young talent up the middle, a highly coveted position in the NHL, but it may have a great deal to do with who the Canucks believe they will be drafting in a few short weeks.
As for the Panthers they will receive a talented young player up the middle, one of the most coveted positions in the NHL at the moment, and he comes with several years of control. Not to mention they also may strike gold with the Canucks second round draft choice this year.
